( 2024 April 15 ) ഇന്ത്യയിൽ നിലയുറപ്പിച്ചിരുന്ന വിദേശ ശക്തികൾക്കെതിരെ ഏറ്റവും ശക്തമായി പടപൊരുതിയ നായർ സൈന്യത്തിന്റെ മറ്റൊരു പോരാട്ട കഥയാണ് 1821-ലെ ആറ്റിങ്ങൽ കലാപം.! എട്ടുവിട്ടിൽ പിള്ളമാരുടെ നേതൃത്വത്തിലുള്ള ശക്തമായ നായർ സൈന്യം നടത്തിയ ആറ്റിങ്ങൽ കലാപത്തിൽ 133 ബ്രിട്ടീഷുകാരാണ് കൊല്ലപ്പെട്ടത്.! ഡച്ചുകാരുടെയും പോർച്ചുഗീസുകാരുടെയും ഫ്രഞ്ചുകാരുടെയും 'വ്യാപാര കുത്തക തകർക്കുക' എന്ന ലക്ഷ്യത്തോടെ ഇംഗ്ലീഷ് ഈസ്റ്റ് ഇന്ത്യാ കമ്പനി സായുധശക്തിയുടെ പിൻബലത്തോടെ 1854-ൽ അന്നത്തെ വേണാട് ഭരണാധികാരിയായിരുന്ന അശ്വതി തിരുനാൾ ഉമയമ്മ റാണിയുടെ അനുമതിയോടെ ആറ്റിങ്ങലിനടുത്ത് അഞ്ചുതെങ്ങിൻ കോട്ട നിർമ്മാണം തുടങ്ങി, പിന്നീട് ബ്രിട്ടീഷുകാർ കോട്ടയ്ക്കുള്ളിൽ രഹസ്യമായി ആയുധ സന്നാഹങ്ങളൊരുക്കി കോട്ടയെ സൈനിക പരിശീലന കേന്ദ്രവും ആക്കി. സൈനിക തലവനായ ഗീഫോർഡ് ആയിരുന്നു അഞ്ചുതെങ്ങ് കോട്ട നിയന്ത്രിച്ചിരുന്നത്. കച്ചവടം നടത്താൻ വന്നവർ ക്രമേണ അധികാര കേന്ദ്രങ്ങളിൽ കൈകടത്തുവാനും വാണിജ്യത്തിൽ ചതിവ് കാട്ടുവാനും തുടങ്ങിയപ്പോൾ എട്ടുവീട്ടിൽ പിള്ളമാരുടെ നേതൃത്വത്തിൽ നായർ സൈന്യം 1697-ൽ അഞ്ചുതെങ്ങ് കോട്ട ആക്രമിച്ചു, എന്നാൽ ഈ നീക്കം പരാജയപ്പെട്ടു. ബ്രിട്ടീഷുകാർ യഥാവിധി കപ്പവും ഉപഹാരങ്ങളും ഉമയമ്മറാണിക്ക് നൽകി പോന്നു.! ബ്രിട്ടീഷുകാർ നേരിട്ട് റാണിക്ക് സമ്മാനങ്ങൾ നൽകുന്നതിനെ എട്ടുവീട്ടിൽ പിള്ളമാർ എതിർത്തു. ഈ എതിർപ്പ് വകവയ്ക്കാതെ 1721 ഏപ്രിൽ 15-ന് ഗീഫോർഡ് 140 ബ്രിട്ടീഷുകാരുടെ അകമ്പടിയോടെ എട്ടുവിട്ടിൽ പിള്ളമാരെ വെല്ലുവിളിച്ച് ഉമയമ്മ റാണിക്ക് സമ്മാനം കൊടുക്കുവാനായി ശ്രമിച്ചു. ഉമയമ്മ റാണിക്കുള്ള ഉപഹാരവുമായി എത്തിയ ബ്രിട്ടീഷുകാരുമായി എട്ടുവീട്ടിൽ പിള്ളമാരുടെ നേതൃത്വത്തിലുള്ള നായർ സൈന്യം ഏലാ പുറത്തുവച്ച് ഏറ്റുമുട്ടി മുഴുവൻ ബ്രിട്ടീഷുകാരെയും വധിച്ചു. അതിനുശേഷം അവർ അഞ്ചുതെങ്ങ് കോട്ടയും പള്ളിയും നശിപ്പിച്ചു, പിന്നീട് തലശ്ശേരിയിൽ നിന്നും വൻ ബ്രിട്ടീഷ് പട്ടാളം വന്നതോടെ സ്ഥിതിഗതികൾ ശാന്തമായി.! 1857-ലെ ഒന്നാം സ്വാതന്ത്ര്യ സമരത്തിനും 1757-ലെ പ്ലാസി യുദ്ധത്തിനും 1817-ലെ പൈകാ പ്രക്ഷോഭനത്തിനെക്കാളും മുൻപേ നടന്നതും, അവയെക്കാൾ കൂടുതൽ ശത്രുക്കളെ കൊന്നതുമായ ആറ്റിങ്ങൽ കലാപം ചരിത്രത്താളുകളിൽ വിസ്മൃതിയിലാണ്.! കേരള ചരിത്രപ്രാധാന്യമുള്ള വേണാട്ടിലെ പ്രമുഖമായ എട്ട് നായർ തറവാടുകളിലെ കാരണവൻമാർ ആയിരുന്നു എട്ടുവീട്ടിൽ പിള്ളമാർ എന്നറിയപ്പെട്ടിരുന്നത്. കാലങ്ങളായി രാജഭരണത്തിന് സഹായം ചെയ്തു വന്നിരുന്നവരായിരുന്നു ഇവർ.! ⚔ ******** എട്ടുവീട്ടിൽ പിള്ളമാർ ******** ⚔ 1️⃣ രാമനാമഠത്തിൽ പിള്ള. 2️⃣ മാർത്താണ്ഡമഠത്തിൽ പിള്ള. 3️⃣ കുളത്തൂർ പിള്ള. 4️⃣ കഴക്കൂട്ടത്ത് പിള്ള. 5️⃣ ചെമ്പഴന്തി പിള്ള. 6️⃣ പള്ളിച്ചൽ പിള്ള. 7️⃣ കുടമൺ പിള്ള. 8️⃣ വെങ്ങാനൂർ പിള്ള. 🇮🇳 #സ്വാതന്ത്ര്യസ്മൃതി #ആറ്റിങ്ങൽകലാപം ⚔ #AattingalRevoltApri15 #എട്ടുവീട്ടിൽപിള്ളമാർ
